The Boa Constrictor Imperator, known as a Common Boa, is a subspecies of the Boa Constrictor. As one of the smaller Boa subspecies, they average between 1.3m and 2.5m in length when fully grown, and have been known to reach 3.7m. They are usually around 6kg in weight and the females are significantly larger than males. Their lifespan in the wild is around 20-30 years but can exceed 40 in captivity.

Discovery

The Boa C. Imperator was first classified by François Marie Daudin in 1803.

The Boa Constrictor Imperator is the most commonly kept pet Boa Constrictor.
